Explanation[edit | edit source]
The author's notes tend to explain the core premise of this strip.
The Eleventh Garfield Fat Cat 3-Pack refers to a collection of Garfield strip compilation books comprised of three standard-sized books. That particular three-pack includes the 1997-07-04 strip, the standard-sized collection including it being Garfield Throws His Weight Around: His 33rd Book; the error described in the author's notes does not appear in digital archives.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
Inspired by SRoMG #3063, I selected a series of panels of Garfield strips published on Independence Day, the Fourth of July. I chose visually interesting panels and panels with the general context of the strip removed. Some, I chose for esoteric reasons. For example, the 1997 strip appears in my copy of The Eleventh Garfield Fat Cat 3-Pack and the last two words of Garfield's dialogue don't appear in full for some reason, making him appear to say, "Must be" with no conclusion to that sentence. Also, in some panels above, the speech bubbles don't appear white and are colored similarly to the blue sky for some reason.
Original strips: 1978-07-04, 1979-07-04, 1980-07-04, 1981-07-04, 1982-07-04, 1983-07-04, 1984-07-04, 1985-07-04, 1986-07-04, 1987-07-04, 1988-07-04, 1989-07-04, 1990-07-04, 1991-07-04, 1992-07-04, 1993-07-04, 1994-07-04, 1995-07-04, 1996-07-04, 1997-07-04, 1998-07-04, 1999-07-04, 2000-07-04, 2001-07-04, 2002-07-04, 2003-07-04, 2004-07-04, 2005-07-04, 2006-07-04, 2007-07-04, 2008-07-04, 2009-07-04, 2010-07-04, 2011-07-04, 2012-07-04, 2013-07-04, 2014-07-04, 2015-07-04, 2016-07-04, 2017-07-04.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
Both the old and current codings of the strip credits on Square Root of Minus Garfield itself do not properly credit every strip therein; the old coding version simply stated "everything between the two dates", the current coding version simply crediting the bookend dates. The strip credits presented at the bottom of the author's notes on this very article have been reworked to properly credit each strip individually.
