3449: So This Happened

Explanation[edit | edit source]
The bulk of this submission consists of a Twitter post by James Colley (@jamcolley), who tweeted it in February 2018. Among the replies are the official Garfield Twitter account tweeting a quip about "saying the M word" on a Sunday (though the original Tweet was posted on a Saturday, so it's evident that the reply was posted the following day); another handle, "Bad Garfield Fan Art," replying with a strip about Garfield uncharacteristically enjoying a Monday morning; still another user replying that "that garfield is a fake" [sic]; and Odie's account replying "Ri runno" à la Scooby-Doo. Colley's original post is an example of headcanon.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
I see a lot of stuff like this on Twitter all the time, but I've never seen Garfield and Odie join in on the conversation!
Original strip: 1979-05-28.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{A Twitter post, with replies under it.}
Colley: Garfield is a cat and doesn't have a job. The only ostensible difference between Monday and any other day is that Jon suddenly isn't around after having been home all weekend. Garfield doesn't hate Mondays, he loves Jon and is too proud to say it.
{Official Garfield account sees thread and replies in character}
Garfield: I'm terribly busy napping. Must we all be saying the "M" word on Sunday?
{Odie account replies to Garfield, also in character}
Odie: Moo?
Bad Garfield Fan Art: Please explain yourself, Garfield. {posts picture of strip}
SFX: bring!
Garfield {in strip}: Oh, goody. It's Monday morning. I love Monday mornings. You know why? Because I don't have to go to work.
Despacito: that garfield is a fake
{down below, Odie and another user are still trying to figure out what the "M-word" is}
TheShortKid: What is the M word by the way?
Odie: Ri runno.
