Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Man Odie's hand looked weird in the original.

Inspired by this Northernlion Live Super Show bit [moderate language in full video -Ed] and the original SRoMG.

Yes, that title is a reference to an ELP offshoot band.

Actually, speaking of references, maybe I should note some other references I've made that people (that is, TVTropes editors) may've missed and I neglected to mention. This author commentary is as good a place as any! So:

  • #2554: the main reference is clear enough, but I had DuckDuckGo, the search engine, in mind with the title.
  • #2698: I think I made that one solely so there would be three strips named Butterfield. The strip itself doesn't reference the webcomic of the same name, but I did mention the name of one of its authors in the description. Also in the comments is a Billy Joel lyric that might not've fit, whoops.
  • #2925: Title is a lyric from the era of Genesis without Phil Collins. No, not that era.
  • #2984: Title, strip and description all refer to the prog group Happy the Man.
  • #3341: The Homestar Wiki picked up on the Homeschool Winner reference (Good on ya, Gfd), but just to drive the point home: One of the two original strips had Garfield saying "I look good in red", which was also said by Homestar seconds before the unthinkable happens. Also, the title is a line said by Homestar in a different cartoon just before he says "lookin' good" which I thought was a nice little bow to tie it together.

Anyway.
