The author writes:[edit | edit source]
By some reckonings*, the University of Queensland in Brisbane is host to the longest continuously running science experiment in the world, Thomas Parnell's pitch drop experiment - a demonstration that pitch/bitumen/asphalt is, at room temperature, not a solid but an extremely viscous liquid.
*I will note that even a University source feels the need to put "experiment" in inverted commas

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{One drop of liquid slowly forms}
{The drop elongates but still does not fall}
Garfield: This is going to be one good science experiment!
