Explanation[edit | edit source]

Hugo Ball was an author, a poet, and one of the leading Dada artists. He wrote the poem "Gadji beri bimba", later adapted to the song "I Zimbra" on the 1979 Talking Heads album Fear of Music. Garfield's dialogue -- originally him deciding that it was Christmas Eve based on faulty calculations and wishful thinking -- is made up of selected lines from the poem.
