Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip takes the setup of "Linguistics with Liz" and applies it to memorable gibberish from two other comic strips, Calvin and Hobbes and Bloom County; this essentially acknowledges Liz's second line in the original Garfield strip to be gibberish. The gibberish itself became Liz's second line in each strip, with Jon's second line in each strip revealing what each piece of gibberish was originally passed off as and Garfield's line revealing the original speaker of the gibberish.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Thought that I'd use Redgreen's template from #3269. The nature of the original strip reminded me of two similar gibberish-driven gags, one from Calvin and Hobbes and one from Bloom County. I couldn't decide which I liked better, so I went with both.

Original Calvin and Hobbes: 1995-01-09.

Original Bloom County: 1984-04-20.

Original strip: 2017-11-17.
