Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

A paleolinguistic twist on an old, old meme. Garfield is quite the philologist, I gather. Also, cuneiform is a writing system, not a language (the text is in Akkadian). This is because Jon must be is subconsciously aware that he is in a comic strip and is seeing rather than hearing words. Also because it's funnier to write "𒀜𒋫𒁍𒊌𒇻" than it is to write "AD.TA BU.UG.LU."

Original strip: 2017-11-17.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

This strip's transcript and author's notes were hit with mojibake errors in a later site recoding effort; the original transcript and author's notes unaffected by mojibake are currently lost to the public due to this.
