Explanation[edit | edit source]

This edit swaps the second and third panels. In the original, the punchline is that Garfield is still willing to get his picture taken regardless of what the reporter calls it; here, the focus is on Garfield objecting to the reporter characterizing his plight as a "human interest story" rather than the cheap sensationalism he feels it to be.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I noticed it was panelled wrong when I first saw this.

Original strip: 1996-01-24.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield is stuck up a tree}
Reporter: Hey, cat! Mind if I take your picture?
Garfield: A reporter!
{Garfield gives a big cheesy grin}
SFX: FLASH!
Reporter: It'll make a great human interest story for my paper!
Garfield: Call it what it is, pal... "cheap sensationalism"!
