Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip takes the expectations one would have of a "Linguistics with Liz" strip and turns the thinking around. The title implies Liz's dialogue would be a Swedish translation of the expected phrase central to a "Linguistics with Liz" presentation, Jon revealing he'll never understand Swedish, and Garfield's line to be unchanged; instead, Liz's line is left unchanged from the original strip, as is Jon's subsequent line, Garfield's line being changed to reference Ikea as a key part of Swedish culture.

Using a search engine translation service to translate Liz's line, setting from Swedish to English, results in no translation and a suggestion to use a different language that would also use no results. "Radish" in Swedish is "rädisa".

It do feel like that sometimes.
