3984: Garfield on Treehouse TV
Garfield on Treehouse TV |
Made by: Garfunkel |
Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip takes a largely innocuous Garfield strip and censors it in a similar fashion to what My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic ended up going through for Canadian broadcast in 2011; the largely-innocuous My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic aired in Canada on Treehouse TV, a network with a legal obligation to target a preschool audience, and as such considered the word "loser" to be considered too harsh a word to broadcast over the channel space and thus censored it. This strip mirrors that ridiculous act of censorship and censors out the same word, even though such a word would normally pass through both newspaper comic content standards and Square Root of Minus Garfield's own content standards quite easily.

For the record, I am no longer a brony. Yeah, I finally got fed up with being made fun of. I just did this strip because, regardless of what show it was done to, this [Reddit link] deserves to be made fun of.
Original strips: 1978-08-20, 2008-09-20.
