In my personal opinion, Will Eisner is probably the greatest comic artist of all time. While Jack Kirby gets a great deal of love (and rightly so) for co-creating the Marvel Universe, Eisner actually created a number of the now familiar tropes we take for granted in comic books today. When I saw this homage to him done up by Jim Davis, I must admit, I was kinda impressed, so I turned it black and white and added in Eisner's iconic signature. Reminds me slightly of the Garfield special "Babes and Bullets", a surprisingly adult cartoon as I recall. I wouldn't mind seeing Garfield in a noir setting again.
Original strip: 2015-09-13.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{An image of Garfield cosplaying as classic comic book superhero The Spirit, with Arlene in the background in full-on feline femme fatale mode; the title floats off like paper in the wind, the ® bouncing off like a marble, while the words "By Will Eisner" are painted on the bricks behind them}
Trivia[edit | edit source]
