Explanation[edit | edit source]

The concept is sufficiently explained, so for original contexts:

  • The first two half-panels are from 1981, from a strip where Garfield was trying to mime an answer to the question of where he was last night.
  • The 5th and 6th half-panels are from 1979, in which Garfield was pretending to choke because he didn't like his cat food.
  • The 9th and 10th half-panels are from 1989, in a series of strips in which Garfield finds himself alone in an abandoned house. In this strip in particular, he thinks Jon and Odie have come home, only for both them and the food Jon offers to vanish before him.
  • The remaining half-panels are from 1991, in a strip in which Garfield sleeps in various spots in and just outside the house.

The author writes[edit | edit source]

This is simply a collection of those rare split panels in Garfield, interspersed with the only 6-panel daily Garfield.

Original strip: 1979-05-01, 1981-04-13, 1989-10-27, 1991-04-26.
