At this point in the original short story, Multivac has evolved into the Cosmic AC, and has outlasted the heat death of the universe. Having finally discovered the answer, but without anyone left to observe it, the computer decides to demonstrate it. He declares, "LET THERE BE LIGHT", and causes a new Big Bang.

{It is long after the heat death of the universe. All that remains is the A.I. known as D.0.G. However, he still has one last question to answer...}
D0G: "Dear Ask a D0G,"...
D0G: "How can the net amount of entropy of the universe be massively decreased?"
D0G: LET THERE BE LIGHT!
SFX: POW!
{And there was light --}
