4145: Garfield discovers cigarettes
Garfield discovers cigarettes |
Made by: Ephreal |
Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip takes the whistle from the April 1979 original strip and portrays it as a cigarette; no visual edits were made to the panels in question except for the necessary dialogue tweak. To punctuate the reference, the third panel is replaced with the first panel from the February 1979 original strip, originally about a lack of heat in the house, to portray the effects of the cigarette on Garfield. The author's note is used to portray the entire presentation as an anti-drug PSA; it is not really known just how a cat might be affected if it were to itself smoke, but it is known that secondhand smoke poses heavy risk toward pets such as both cats and dogs.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
Don't do drugs, kids.
Original strips: 1979-02-09, 1979-04-25.
