Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Jon wasn't seen outside of the throwaway panel. Here, the author has taken the very similar coloration of the surface Garfield is on in the throwaway panel to the one he's on in the rest of the strip to mean that they're the same surface. If that's the case, there's a table on the... other table? ...and Jon's mother is running on the table Garfield is on. The Jon from the throwaway panel has been strategically placed to emphasize this.

Garfield never has been one for consistency of scale, but this one stood out the most for me.
