Explanation[edit | edit source]
As the first part of the title suggests, this "strip" is comprised of a single image containing badly drawn versions of Garfield (who doesn't look very catlike) and Jon (who looks like a plain stick figure) against a white backdrop, with no inspiration taken from any preexisting Garfield strips. The threats they throw at each other also contained references to two shows that aired on Nickelodeon in the 90s.
First, Jon references GUTS, a game show that sees three child contestants competing against each other in physical challenges based on sports. The reference comes from Jon mentioning the Aggro Crag, a giant mountain-shaped rock wall that contestants climb in the final round of every episode. Garfield, meanwhile references All That, a sketch comedy show that can be summarized as a children's version of Saturday Night Live, and helped launch the careers of actors such as Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli, Amanda Bynes, Gabriel Iglesias, and Jamie Lynn Spears.
