I Hate NFTs

Made by: Anonymous

Explanation[edit | edit source]

Assuming the title didn't give it away, this edit is a jab at NFTs (non-fungible tokens). Besides the concerns noted in both the strip and the author's notes, NFTs are also frequently used in scams and have been compared to pyramid and Ponzi schemes.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Submitting this anonymously to prevent getting hate for such a controversial topic; this demonstrates the current problem in the world of digital arts today (at time of submission). Art theft is at an all-time high; stolen art is being sold as NFTs, which in turn pollutes the environment... jeez, it's almost scary for anyone wanting to get into this sort of thing.

I hope to god this strip doesn't become an NFT itself... (are they even allowed to do that with CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 works?) [IANAL but I'm pretty sure the answer is 'no'. -Ed]

Original strip: 1984-08-05.
