Explanation[edit | edit source]
Sting (whose real name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) was the lead singer of a rock band called The Police. The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. The were popular in the late 1970s and early to mid 1980s with a style of rock influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. The interaction between Sting and Odie references the 1980 smash hit "Don't Stand So Close to Me", although it is slightly misquoted. The title of this comic is a reference to The Police's third studio album Zenyatta Mondatta released in October of 1980.
