Explanation[edit | edit source]

This is a recreation of the original strip within the limitations of the computer game Blockland, in which objects and even people are made of blocks, not too dissimilar from the LEGO games or Minecraft.

The strip and game seem to have been selected based on the word "block", which, in the original strip, meant a section of land bounded by streets on which buildings -- houses, for example -- may be built. Here, since the strip is in the style of Blockland, everything is blocks, so one might even say that running around Garfield would be an example of running around the block.

Not that this matters much to Garfield, as he is threatening Jon with a rocket launcher for his taunt, which was only countered by brandishing claws in the original strip.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Blockland.

Original strip: 2003-03-18.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: I'm trying to decide which would be more exercise.
{Jon raises his "arm"}
Jon: Running around the block...
Jon: Or running around you.
{Garfield pulls out a rocket-launcher}
Garfield: How about running from me, smart guy?
