4884: Dialogue Swap: 02/02/02 and 06/06/06
Dialogue Swap: 02/02/02 and 06/06/06 |
Made by: Nyperold |
Explanation[edit | edit source]
This author has made other edits based on strips for which the two digits after the "20" in the year are the same as the digits of the month and of the day: 2718 for 2003, 2547 for 2007, 2951 for 2008, and 2367 for 2009. Faced with the strips for 2002 and 2006, it seems his best idea was to swap their dialogue.
The author mentions writing the setting and action descriptions in tanka, a type of Japanese poetry that starts like haiku, with a 5-7-5 syllable structure, but then continues for two more lines of 7 syllables each. Why? Even the author doesn't know.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
Don't ask me why I decided to write what they're doing in tanka. I don't even know. (And yes, I do count "Garfield" as three syllables.)
These are a couple of strips I chose based on the repeating numbers in the dates.
Original strips: 2002-02-02, 2006-06-06.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{Jon has put his face / right into Garfield's space / just to tell him this:}
Jon: My date tried to have me arrested for being boring
Jon: And I don't even think it's illegal!
{Garfield poses smugly, / proud of his witticism:}
Garfield: I notice you're not professing innocence
{Jon is standing there / seemingly clad for a date / but he wants to stare}
Jon: I'm staring at you, Garfield!
Jon: What do you think of that?
{Garfield simply stands still / unimpressed by Jon's staring}
Garfield: Heeey, who wouldn't want to stare at me?
