Explanation

This is the fifth installment of the Garfield Numerosity series, based on the Numerosity series from Sesame Street. This comic adapts the fifth film, which centers around the number 5. That film ended with the baker carrying 5 fancy fruit cakes, but that scene isn't adapted. Here's each panel of the comic in order:

• 5 fingers: This panel uses an image of one of Garfield's paws, with a fifth finger added, since Garfield usually has 4. It's unknown where the image came from, and even though the author's notes suggest it came from the 1988-07-21 comic, the most likely shot of Garfield's paw in the comic isn't an exact match.
• 5 ice cream sodas: This panel uses the third panel of a comic (1997-02-27) where Garfield hallucinates talking food while on a diet, including a sentient ice cream soda. This panel uses a blank backdrop from the comic with 5 copies of the ice cream soda.
• 5 monsters: This panel uses the second panel of a comic (1986-07-21) where Garfield wakes up on Monday to find himself surrounded by monsters, which he credits as "Mondays losing their subtlety". The original panel only has 4 monsters, and the Nightmare Knight from the Cucumber Quest webcomic is added here to make five. The author's notes mention that the scene from the original film (which used Beautiful Day Monster, Thudge, a prototype version of Grover, the Flute Snatcher from an old Muppet commercial for Flutes snacks, and Snerk) was axed from the film's official YouTube upload out of concern that it could frighten children. The man in the scene even says "5... whatever they are" just like Garfield does here.
• 5 frogs: This panel uses the first panel of a comic (1983-06-09) where Jon gets a new frog named Herbie, whom Garfield intends to make an example out of when Jon's not looking. The original panel only has 1 frog, and 4 more are added here.
• 5 dimes: This panel uses an image of a Garfield piggy bank with five dimes flying into it.

Based on a Numerosity segment from Sesame Street, it counts five different sets of features.

In the original version of "The Song of Five", Beautiful Day Monster, Thudge, Grover, Flute Snatcher, and Snerk appear breaking a window, making a man exclaim "Five... whatever they are". This was axed in the official YouTube release due to it being too scary. In this version, Garfield sees the four nightmare monsters from 1986-07-21 and the Nightmare Knight from Cucumber Quest.
