My fifth grade class had to perform a parachute routine to this song way back when. They made me sit out cause I was in Special Ed.
Original strip: 0000-00-00.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
Jon: What's the matter with the clothes I'm wearing?
Garfield: Can't ya tell that your tie's too wide?
Classic Garfield: Maybe I should buy some old tab collars
Modern Garfield: Welcome back to the age of jive
Jon: Where have you been hidin' out lately, honey?
Garfield: You can't dress trashy til ya spend a lotta money
Garfield: Everybody's talkin' bout the new sound
Garfield: Funny, but it's still Rock n Roll to me
Jon: What's the matter with the car I'm driving?
Garfield: Can't ya tell that it's out of style?
Jon: Should I get a set of whitewall tires?
(Jon: Never mind)
Garfield: Are ya gonna cruise the miracle mile?
Honest Ed: Nowadays you can't be too sentimental
Honest Ed: Your best bet's a true baby blue continental
Garfield {narrating as Jon punches Honest Ed for some reason}: Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk,
Garfield: It's still Rock n Roll to me.
Jon: Oh...
Garfield: It doesn't matter what they say in the papers
Garfield: Cause it's always been the same old scene
Jon: There's a new band in town
Garfield: But you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine
Garfield: Aimed at your average teen
Garfield: How about a pair of pink sidewinders and a bright orange pair of pants?
Garfield: You could really be a Beau Brummel baby if you just give it half a chance
{Garfield is thrown out the window}
Garfield: Don't waste your money on a new set of speakers
(Jon: I LIKED that ringtone!)
Garfield: You get more mileage from a cheap pair of sneakers
Garfield: Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still Rock n Roll to me
Garfield: What's the matter with the crowd I'm seeing?
Odie {actually thinking, to Garfield's shock}: Can't you tell that they're out of touch?
Letter: Should I try to be a straight-A student?
Garfield: If you are, then you think too much
Jon: Have you heard about the new fashion, honey?
Jon: All you need are looks and a whole lotta money
Garfield: It's the next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still Rock n Roll to me
Garfield: Everybody's talkin' bout the new sound, funny, but it's still Rock n Roll to me
Trivia[edit | edit source]
None of the actual strips were correctly credited; the only date credited is the non-existent 0000-00-00. As the erroneous date was the only date credited, it was retained even after a number of other strips bearing that error had it corrected, one of only two strips still bearing that erroneous date (the other being 293: i).
