I was looking for the most obtuse possible way to make a reference to the song "Lesbian Seagull", by Tom Wilson Weinberg, and later covered by Englebert Humperdink for the soundtrack to Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, and came up with this.
For the unaware, "Lesbian Seagull" is actually based on a real life to-do centered on actual research; one of the consequences of overuse of DDT was a decline in male, but not female, seagull populations (DDT was fat-soluble, and all bird eggs contain a certain amount of fat, meaning that female seagulls were shedding more of their DDT dosage than males). This resulted in a population of "breeding pairs" of two female seagulls (with one or the other mating with an outside male, and then returning to the nest).
