5408: Garfield Goes to Willy's Chocolate Experience
Garfield Goes to Willy's Chocolate Experience |
![]() Made by: Trevor |
Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip satirizes the infamous Willy's Chocolate Experience and the subsequent viral notoriety it got (more on that on the linked Wikipedia article). The edit places the logo on the store window, which originally said "Health Food Store", and depicts Garfield as desperately searching for chocolate. As anyone familiar with the "event" knows, though, there were next to no sweet treats in sight, despite what the AI-generated adverts claimed.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
PROTIP: When you want to capitalize on a hit movie (i.e. the recent Wonka movie starring Timothée Chalamet), it's best you do so with love and care, and not try and bait people with AI-generated images and then whip out a fraudulent "event" that will go down in history right alongside the Fyre Festival. Otherwise, it won't go unnoticed.
Original strip: 1981-02-04.
