Explanation[edit | edit source]

Following Manyhills' futile attempt to halt the onslaught of pudding pops comics, Mr. Kepple here makes it into an example of the Droste effect - the middle image is the entire comic, which means that comic's middle image is itself, and that comic's middle image is itself, and it goes on like that. The animated version makes this more obvious, as it continuously zooms into the middle part, making it clear that it never stops repeating.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Inspired by #478.

For even more fun, here's an animated version:

Original strip: 2001-11-28.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jon: The world is constantly changing.
{This comic, squashed into the middle frame.}
Garfield: They haven't stopped making frozen pudding pops, have they?

Trivia[edit | edit source]

The animated rendition of the strip in the author's notes was originally a Flash file (the non-functional remains of which can be found here); the animated GIF version was originally part of a line that read the following below the Flash file:

For those without Flash, here's an animated GIF (much larger file size).

The recreation on this very wiki, due to ShoutWiki never supporting uploading Flash files, has always used the animated GIF; as the Flash file no longer works, the animated GIF has since replaced the Flash version on the Square Root of Minus Garfield site and the Flash version delinked from public viewing.
