Poor Garfield...
I was initially going to name this as part of the "Simple Recontextualization" series, but I wasn't sure what to put as its subtitle that fit with the theme. "Change of Reality" because of the dream/nightmare being turned real? Well, I also recolored the last panel with colors color-picked from the last panel of 1980-06-30 because it just fit, so... should it be "Change of Color and Removal of Speech Bubble"? Could that still be considered "Simple"?
Well anyway, here's Average Recontextualization 1 with a subtitle that's the opposite of the title of SRoMG #4833. And no, I'm not implying this is the first strip to use Non-Simple Recontextualization, or, Average Recontextualization, it's just the first one to call itself "Average Recontextualization 1".
Maybe I could've called it Compound Recontextualization 2, but it has nothing to do with the Followup duology... Unless this is Jon's revenge for Garfield eating the fish... But it this really enough changes to be considered Compound? It's not Compound or Simple... I guess I shouldn't have doubted myself, okay, I'm keeping the name, but just know I briefly considered renaming this "Compound Recontextualization 2: Jon Strikes Back (AKA Followup 3: Revenge of Jon)".
Original strips: 1980-06-30, 2024-02-16.
