Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

Trawling for strip ideas, I decided to do something I haven't done in a while and look at the most recently published strip (at the time of writing). I was then astonished to find that it was published on the exact same date, 17 years later, of a very similar strip that had become a running gag on SRoMG. In 5 minutes, I had done what was necessary. Perhaps, in the leadup to Halloween, Garfield reminisces on his own horror production on its 17th anniversary. It could also be an indicator that Garfield recycles its jokes on a very regular basis.

Original strips: 2006-10-28, 2023-10-28.
