Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

In the original SRoMG, Garfield wishes so that "absolutely anything can happen, even when you don't expect it". The Wonder Flower's main schtick is that, when you collect one, absolutely anything can happen, even when you don't expect it.

I'm surprised that we made it this far without anybody making the connection and then acting on it.

(And, for those of you who haven't played Super Mario Bros. Wonder yet, this is a Gnawsher.)

Original Square Root of Minus Garfield strip: 2013-11-12.

Original strip: 1979-03-02.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon points to a Wonder Flower}
Jon: Be careful around the Wonder Flower, Garfield.
{Garfield, of course, ignores this and grabs the Wonder Flower anyways. The Wonder Flower floats away and disappears}
SFX: {overlaid on itself several times and at various sizes} WONDER!
{Garfield's body undergoes a series of bizarre mutations over a psychedelic background again}
Garfield: Yes... Yes! Here we go again!
