5728: Get Down Off My Knees For Me
Get Down Off My Knees For Me |

Explanation[edit | edit source]
In the original, Jon notes that he's lost feeling in his legs, to which Garfield says, "You're welcome." Here, he quotes the title line of the 1964 song "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", written by Phil Spector, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil and first recorded by the Righteous Brothers. The strip title is a play on a line from the song: "I'd get down on my knees for you".
The author's note attempts to head off any interpretation of his intent as shipping Jon and Garfield.
The author writes[edit | edit source]
I'm making a song reference, not implying anything about their relationship.
Original strip: 1992-07-01.
