Explanation[edit | edit source]
In this strip, Jon and Garfield are at a self-checkout machine, attempting to buy a bag of Cheese Doodles. As Jon swipes his card, the machine bombards him with multiple prompts: "Would you like to donate a dollar to charity today?", "Enter PIN.", "Your total is $3.24. Is this correct?", and finally, the dreaded "Leave a tip?" screen. Frustrated, Jon exclaims, "ALL I WANT IS A BAG OF CHEESE DOODLES!" to which Garfield, equally exasperated, responds, "DON'T WE ALL?!!" The comic humorously captures the modern checkout experience, where seemingly simple transactions become a gauntlet of extra questions.
