Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip combines elements of Garfield with the language style of the Smurfs where words are replaced with "smurf" in various contexts.

The author writes[edit | edit source]

Saw limmey comics's SRoMG #5600 "Purrfield" today and I chuckled, remembering The Smurfs and how they would change words to "smurf", so I decided to go for the gusto and make it. In the early comics, it was VERY pervasive, the Saturday morning cartoon kept the gag to a minimum thankfully.

The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs) created by Peyo.

Original strip: 1984-09-10.
