Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Jon's worry was that it was spying on him; the phone attempts to reassure him that it's not, to the opposite effect. In this edit, Jon's worry is that his phone has gained sentience; his phone responds with a line from the 1991 SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive port of the 1989 arcade shooter Zero Wing.

This line is spoken by the main villain, called CATS, announcing his takeover of all bases pertaining to the military to which the captain belongs. It gained online popularity, culminating in a video which began with the intro as presented in the game and voiced by text-to-speech, followed by assembling a bunch of images into which the phrase has been added, with background music and various phrases from the intro spoken by the text-to-speech program.
