Basic Mathematics

Explanation

This strip essentially takes some stock art of Garfield, photos of Lorenzo Music and Bill Murray, and the poster for Garfield: The Movie and puts them together with some mathematical symbols in referencing the transition in the voice of Garfield between Garfield and Friends and Garfield: The Movie; such a transition would've been necessary in any event, as Lorenzo Music had died prior to Garfield: The Movie having entered production. The author's notes also makes mention of a similar transition in reverse in the role of Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters franchise, in that case a live-action film role transitioning to an animated series role (a role which Bill Murray would eventually reprise upon the role in question returning to the live-action film sphere).

The author writes:

I was feeling a little discouraged at not being able to contribute any mathematically relevant strips to a site that was originally designed for doing so. This is the closest that I may ever be able to come to. It's also remarkably similar to the way I think.

The interesting thing is, Lorenzo Music was also the voice of Peter Venkman in The Real GhostBusters cartoon, so things kind of went full circle there.
