Explanation[edit | edit source]

In this strip, Garfield confidently declares, "I believe that things happen for a reason." However, before Jon can finish his sentence, Garfield abruptly ceases to exist, leaving Jon visibly shocked by the sudden disappearance.

The humor of the strip comes from the literal contradiction of Garfield’s statement—he proclaims that everything has a reason, yet immediately vanishes for seemingly no reason at all, creating an absurd and unexpected twist.

The author explains that the strip was created after noticing that two separate Garfield comics had strikingly similar color schemes and even Jon's shirt color matched across them. This realization led to the creation of this surreal mash-up.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I realized that two separate strips I had previously downloaded had a very similar color scheme, even down to the color of Jon's shirt. The result was whatever this ridiculous amalgamation is.

Original strips: 2015-11-14, 2016-03-05.
