Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip riffs at the effort of intentional lazy edits designed to lampoon lazy edits; it takes a fresh copy of the 2015-01-06 original Garfield strip and reworks the second panel's dialogue to make it look like a setup for a new branch of the "intentional lazy edit" trend, but then brings in Garfield and Nermal assets from the 2002-06-11 original Garfield strip along with original dialogue in the third panel to weave a narrative that subverts the reader's expectations concerning the running gag.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
If Nermal Cat was in this comic, it would make this strip even cuter. This kitten would've been cool to hang around with, but, of course, he would make Garfield seem more annoyed (like he was last time with all those lazy edits floating around in his head).
Original strips: 2015-01-06, 2002-06-11.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{Jon is talking to Garfield, who seems uninterested in what's going on}
Jon: You know what the world needs more of?
Garfield: Let me guess... lazy edits?
Jon: Kittens!
Garfield: There's your call, folks. Nermal has come to the rescue
{Nermal walks in and sees a happy Jon and an unamused Garfield, possibly raising his arm to the cutest kitten on Earth}
Nermal: Hi gang! What's poppin'?
