The milk strip is one of the biggest examples of how copy-paste Garfield had become, to the point where it became a meme in multiple ways, most notable being Garfield in 2053. Yet despite everything, not ONE person has ever done this since its release: make the strip more dynamic.

So I went ahead and actually made Garfield an actual character instead of a lawn gnome for once using bits from other strips, and also modified Jon's expression slightly. Now this hilariously bad strip is now just another bog standard Garfield in an alternative universe where 2053 never looked so grim.

Original strips: 2013-01-17, 2013-01-22, 2013-01-28, 2013-03-11.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Garfield sits in one of the many cloned rooms in his house. It could be the kitchen, given the context of the strip, but who really cares? Anyways, as he stares into our soul, Garfield does something unexpected and moves his arm to point upwards wisely, as he begins "talking" to us:}
Garfield: Milk...
{He lowers his arm and turns his head towards us, readying up his wisdom bomb that he's about to drop. He must be feeling very wise today, he's deciding on not just being inanimate for once. Either that, or Jim Davis is having a good day, which hopefully he is. Poor guy's been stuck writing Garfield strips for decades. Sure he gets money, but at what cost? Anyways:}
Garfield: Some people read expiration dates
{The POV zooms out to reveal Jon Arbuckle, who's experiencing some sort of extreme reaction towards what is apparently expired milk. You'd think he'd know it was expired just by the smell alone, but this is the same guy who still expects Garfield not to eat his food and chase mice, so clearly he's not smart. Actually, maybe he's suffering from old age? Around this time the strip would've been at least 34 years old I think, maybe his brain finally went away? Regardless, Garfield revels in this tomfoolery with a cheeky grin on his face, concluding:}
Garfield: And some don't
