Explanation=[edit | edit source]
Garfield was smoking a pipe in the original strip. In this edit, instead of one pipe, there are now four or five purple pipes floating or falling in the air in front of him. They look like distorted, duplicated versions of his pipe.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
Original strip: 1978-07-27.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{Jon, sitting and reading a newspaper, reaches for his pipe but does not find it}
Jon: Now where could my pipe be?
{Several copies of Jon's pipe are hovering unnaturally in midair}
Jon {off-panel}: Oh God, they've multiplied
