Explanation[edit | edit source]
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
It appears that orange cats have an exchange program. So when Heathcliff appears in a Garfield comic, Garfield obviously appears in a Heathcliff comic. For a while I thought the answer to the question about what happened to Garfield during this exchange would conclude this theme. But considering how many orange cats there are, I start suspecting this might be the very opposite of a conclusion.
Original strips: Garfield 1992-02-25 and Heathcliff unknown.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{Mr Nutmeg is hanging up a bug zapper. Garfield enters holding a dogswatter.}
Mr Nutmeg: The bug zapper will take care of the bugs.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The text "how many orange cats there are" originally had a link attached to it; that link was removed after it was reported in the Square Root of Minus Garfield bug reports thread on the Irregular Webcomic forums to be leading to an adult website (content obviously NSFW). The content the link originally led to has been archived here.
- The link to the original Heathcliff strip also no longer works as intended, now leading to a "page not found" page; no known archives of the page as was originally linked to are known to exist. The link implies the original Heathcliff strip came from the 1990s, in which case the original strip would not be found on GoComics, whose Heathcliff archives only go back as far as 2002.
