Clearly Jon hasn't spent much time on WDWMagic.com, otherwise he'd know what Bob Iger has been doing to destroy the parks since 2019. He's also removing the dinosaurs from Animal Kingdom, filling in the Rivers of America at the Magic Kingdom, and scrubbing EPCOT of its character and whimsy. The sooner he gets shown the door, the better.

Personally, I've always found the original strip that I used here hilarious. I think it's mostly because of how cheery Jon is. And the mental image of him frolicking in a meadow.

I considered maybe just having the entire thing take place in Hollywood Studios, with the punchline being that Jon decided to go ride Rise of the Resistance, only to return and complain that the line was too long (with Garfield making a comment about Genie+ or how you have to make reservations for some rides now or whatever). I also considered having Jon want to go on the riverboat instead of Splash Mountain, but the closure of Splash Mountain hurt a lot more for me (and I like The Princess and the Frog, don't get me wrong, but Tiana's Bayou Adventure isn't even a good Princess and the Frog ride, let alone a good replacement for Splash Mountain).

Original strips: 2000-02-02, 2000-05-19.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon and Garfield are at Walt Disney World. Specifically, they're at Disney's Hollywood Studios, standing in front of the Chinese Theater}
Jon {gleefully}: I'm gonna go on the Great Movie Ride!
{Garfield just stands there, leaning on a ledge, wondering if he should tell Jon about the closure of the Great Movie Ride or not}
{Jon returns, dejected}
Jon: They tore it out and replaced it
Garfield: Too expensive for the billion-dollar company to operate, I guess
{Now they're standing in front of Echo Lake}
Jon {gleefully}: Ah, well. I can still go watch Muppet-Vision 3D!
{Garfield waits for him to return, which he does one panel later, once again dejected}
Jon: They're tearing it down, too
Garfield: Well, I hope the Monsters Inc. land is good, at least
Jon {gleefully}: I know! Let's go to the Magic Kingdom and ride Splash Mountain!
Text box: The Magic Kingdom:
{Garfield is in Frontierland}
Jon {returns, dejected}: You have GOT to be kidding me...
Garfield: Yeah, yeah, I hate Bob Iger too. At least we still have Figment
