Mostly explained in the author's notes; it is unknown what kind of quality the author was seeking from a source of the original strip, hence it is also unknown whether the author was either unaware of archived versions of what had been the 1200-pixel wide garfield.com versions of the strip (archived on the Garfield wiki on Fandom here) or sought a higher-quality version of the strip than even what garfield.com had once offered.

I can't find any source of this comic that is high quality, so I decided to completely remake it. (on scratch.mit.edu NOT JOKING)
