Linguistics with Liz: Minecraft enchanting table

Made by: LochlannDS

Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip is a typical installment of "Linguistics with Liz" featuring the Standard Galactic Alphabet that originated in Commander Keen; the Standard Galactic Alphabet characters roughly translate to what one expects from this running gag.

The author's notes and strip's title make mention of the Standard Galactic Alphabet's current main usage as being part of enchanting tables in Minecraft; to punctuate this reference, this strip came out roughly a week and a half after the newest installment in the series, Minecraft Dungeons II, as well as roughly two and a half weeks before the Nintendo Switch 2 port of the original Minecraft.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

we can't escape the meme

Alternate title – Linguistics with Liz: Standard Galactic Alphabet

But let's be real, more people will recognise it as the enchanting table than the standard galactic alphabet in this day and age

Original strip: 2017-11-17.
