Explanation

This strip takes the original Garfield strip, reworks the second panel into a beat panel, then reworks the dialogue of the third panel as a jab at the quality of the Garfield strips.

This strip's author would repeat this strip's premise in the later 891: More Nose Pencils, which has the same setup as this strip but a different jab at Garfield's quality in its own third panel; an editor's note on #891 questions whether that strip was in actuality an exact rerun of this one, which is not quite the case.

The author writes:

It seemed like a new version of the blender meme.
