Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original, Jon took a picture of his own uvula because he didn't have a date. For this strip, the author removed the first panel and had Garfield imply that the uvula was Liz's, taken as part of the practice of sexting, or sending sexually explicit text messages that may or may not have images accompanying them (or as the main aspect of the message).

It is possible that Liz sent a picture of her uvula instead of one of a part with a name that's a near-anagram. Such a mix-up is implied here to be a newbie mistake, but Jon is appreciative, nonetheless.

The author mentions 1242: One Little Letter, which used "sexting" in a slightly different way.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I guess it's a sort of spiritual sequel to strip 1242?

Original strip: 2010-05-21. That's all, thankfully.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

{Jon looks in surprise at a picture message that has just arrived on his phone}
Jon: {leering} Now there's a good-lookin' uvula!
Garfield: Liz is new to sexting.
