Explanation[edit | edit source]

This strip is based on a scene from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Plankton!" As its title suggests, the episode introduced series antagonist Sheldon J. Plankton, who owns the Chum Bucket, the unsuccessful competitor of the Krusty Krab, the restaurant SpongeBob works at. Plankton is constantly trying, but never succeeding, to steal the formula the Krabby Patty, the Krusty Krab's signature meal. In the episode, Plankton's plan involved sneaking inside SpongeBob's head and taking control of his brain. Right before doing this, he gets out a record player to play a piece of ominous music to laugh evilly with, which he had done at least once earlier in the episode. This time, it instead plays a children's song based on the alphabet, as he apparently set the record on the wrong side this time, and he promptly flips it back to the ominous music.

This edit simply replaces Plankton with Garfield, utilizing poses from three strips, two of which have been made frequent running gags in this webcomic.

I'm actually surprised no one has thought of this one yet. Iconic SpongeBob meme given the Garfield treatment.
