Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip takes the original Garfield strip and replaces Garfield and his dialogue in all panels except the last with the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog incarnation of Dr. Robotnik (that name being what western material called the primary villain of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise at the time; Japanese material from the outset and western material from Sonic Adventure onward call him Dr. Eggman), with Dr. Robotnik uttering a memetic combination of syllables in the second-to-last panel where Garfield had said "Die!" in the original Garfield strip. The last panel remains untouched, Garfield and all, but the usage of Dr. Robotnik in the earlier panels is intended to make that display parallel the name of the theme song from Sonic Adventure 2, a game in which the primary incarnation of Dr. Eggman is actually one of six playable characters of.
The memetic combination of syllables in the second-to-last panel was made famous from YouTube Poop videos; the combination of syllables was extracted from the episode "Boogey-Mania", and specifically from the line "Snooping as usual, I see."; the context the YouTube Poop videos give the combination of syllables is slightly NSFW, this strip being accepted to run on Square Root of Minus Garfield likely being based on the lack of that context.

This strip's transcript is missing Garfield's line in the final panel, and arguably also some mention of Dr. Robotnik leaving the scene and Garfield entering; the listing for Garfield's line would ideally read "Garfield: Live and learn".
