Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip compares some older Garfield strips with cat-related Internet memes:
- Tardar Sauce, aka "Grumpy Cat", whose perpetually dissatisfied-looking face (actually the result of feline dwarfism) fits well with Garfield's general demeanor;
- "Nyan Cat", a pixel animation of a cat with a Pop-Tart for a body flying through space and leaving a rainbow trail behind it, is accompanied by one of Garfield's rare energetic moments;
- "Happy Cat", the original LOLcat, asking "I can has cheezburger?", is accompanied by Garfield eating several hamburgers at once while declaring his love for them;
- "Ceiling Cat", a cat peeking through a hole in the wall, versus Garfield putting glue on his feet and standing on the wall;
- and finally, "Longcat", whose famous length befits Garfield's rubber arms.

No matter what popular Internet cat meme, it seems that Garfield got there first.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Apparently, there was some sort of mistake in the description when this comic was first posted. It was later fixed, of course.
- This strip was accidentally re-posted on September 30th, six days later, with the aforementioned mistake intact. It was later replaced with "Violence-Free Garfield" (by the same author) and inspired "The Problem with Webcomic Buffers" and "Web Affair".
