Explanation[edit | edit source]

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

I was reading strip No. 532 “¡Mexicano Garfield!”, and realised maybe I could do something with Irish. I wanted to try something based on the colours of the Irish flag, but that proved too much work; but since St. Patrick’s Day happened to be coming up, I found a strip with the word “green,” translated the strip to Irish to the best of my abilities, coloured the strip green, and added a celebratory message.

Original strip: 2009-03-31.

Transcript[edit | edit source]

on: Tá ár rí agus banríon abhaile
Jon: Agus go tá dom
Jon: Bhí vótáil mé fuirseoir cúirte abhaile
Garfield: Riteoga glas faiseanta
Caption: Be sure to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

This strip's title, transcript, and author's notes were all hit by mojibake errors in a later site recoding effort; the original transcript and author's notes unaffected by mojibake are currently lost to the public as a result, but the original title was preserved on this wiki's list of strip titles prior to the recoding effort and thus is not lost to the public as a result.
