Explanation[edit | edit source]
The original comic had Garfield pick up the entire cake and eat the whole thing by putting it in his mouth. This edit changes the second panel to show Garfield inhaling the cake Kirby-style. According to the author's notes, Colin was inspired by an early installment of Zits, a comic strip series created by Jerry Scott of Baby Blues fame.

This was inspired by a Zits strip. Zits, for those of you unfamiliar, is a semi-exaggerated portrayal of teenaged life. One early strip had the main character Jeremy showing up for family dinner, and literally inhaling all the food on the table. I thought that seemed fairly appropriate for Garfield.
