Explanation[edit | edit source]
This strip's premise is well-explained in the author's notes.
The author writes:[edit | edit source]
Taking a cue from "Lean on Me" (#665), this comic seeks to focus the centre of rotation on one object. In this case, it's the picture frame. By doing this, a different scenario is formed in this comic compared to the original, though you could still see it as what the original intended to portray.
Original strip: 1993-07-16.
Transcript[edit | edit source]
{Garfield sees a tilted picture frame. The panel is tilted at about 20 degrees counter-clockwise}
{Garfield centres the picture frame. The panel is tilted clockwise a bit}
{The scene becomes tilted back in place. The panel becomes tilted back in place}
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Much in the same fashion as Garfield itself revisited the "crooked picture" gag on 1996-11-19, Square Root of Minus Garfield would also revisit the "crooked panel" gag in 2244: Crooked.
- Although neither #665, nor this strip, nor #2244 were cited as potential inspiration, iToons 418: Spinal Cord Futures makes use of a similar setup applied to a 9 Chickweed Lane original strip.
