Explanation[edit | edit source]

In the original "Garfield is Really into Turkey" banner, Jon was about to cut the turkey with a sharp knife. Turns out Garfield was in the turkey, leaving his tail out of it. A "burp" comes out of it.

This strip first ran on the American Thanksgiving holiday in 2018.

The three-panel Garfield strip hollowed out and overlaid over the banner image originally ran in 2017; it is impractical to attempt to trace these elements to a specific strip. While it is unknown when exactly this strip was first submitted, the elements being dated to 2017 would rule out any date from 2016-12-31 and earlier.

The author writes:[edit | edit source]

It's not a strip per se this is based on, but a banner used for the garfield.com website during the holidays.

I took creative liberty on this strip with themes of the mainstream personality that the Internet has given Garfield and his owner Jon. I took a three-panel Garfield comic and layered it over the banner for continuity of Square Root of Minus Garfield's themes.

Original strips: 1978-07-27, Garfield is Really into Turkey Garfield.com banner image.
